Tost addresses AlphaTauri sale rumours

Reports have emerged that Red Bull were looking to offload its junior team to prospective buyers looking to enter F1.

AlphaTauri team principal Franz Tost has said that reports Red Bull are preparing to sell the team have “no foundation”.

Rumours have emerged ahead of the start of the 2023 F1 season at the Bahrain GP that the Milton Keynes-based outfit were considering selling its junior team amid dissatisfaction with performance and to take advantage of interest from outside parties in joining the grid.

However, Tost has issued a statement saying that following discussions with the team, he can confirm that there are no such plans.

“I had some very good meetings with Oliver Mintzlaff, who confirmed that the shareholders will not sell Scuderia AlphaTauri, and that Red Bull will continue supporting the team in the future,” Tost said.

“All of these rumours have no foundation, and the team has to remain focused for the start of the season to perform better than last year.”
