Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc secured pole position in Baku, his fourth in four years, ahead of McLaren driver Oscar Piastri on the 2024 Azerbaijan GP starting grid.

Lewis Hamilton changed a number of power unit elements in parc fermé and will start the race in Baku from the pit lane. Zhou Guanyu also changed power unit elements earlier in the weekend and he also drops back.

Pierre Gasly was disqualified from qualifying following a breach of the F1 technical regulations regarding fuel flow, and after initially sitting in P13, the Alpine driver will move to the back of the starting grid in Azerbaijan.

Gasly’s Alpine teammate Esteban Ocon will also start the race from the pit lane after taking multiple new power unit elements following qualifying.

As a result, Lando Norris, who had qualified in 17th place now moves up to P15 on the starting grid thanks to numerous penalties for other drivers.
