Stake F1 Team unveils groundbreaking C44 in London

The Stake F1 Team pulled back the curtain on the C44, their car for the 2024 Formula 1 season

In an atmosphere charged with anticipation and the promise of innovation, the Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber has pulled back the curtain on the C44, their challenger for the 2024 Formula 1 season.

The reveal, set against the historical backdrop of London’s Guildhall, was anything but traditional. It heralded the start of a new epoch in racing, characterized by bold designs, aggressive engineering, and a forward-looking philosophy that has already set the motorsport world abuzz.

The C44, draped in a striking Black and Fluo Racing Green livery courtesy of BASF’s developmental prowess, is a departure from the norm. This car doesn’t just aim to compete; it seeks to captivate, with its design promising to dominate both the track and the visual landscape of Formula 1.

The team’s 2024 race drivers, Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu, stood by as the latest marvel from Hinwil was unveiled, showcasing a vehicle that is as much about performance as it is about making a statement.

Technological Leap Forward

Under the technical direction of James Key, the C44 represents a culmination of relentless effort from the Stake F1 Team‘s Hinwil base. With a distinct departure from its predecessor, the C43, the C44 introduces a myriad of both visible and subtle changes aimed at enhancing performance.

Among the most notable is the adoption of a pull-rod front suspension system, a strategic move aimed at unlocking aerodynamic benefits and marking a significant pivot in the team’s design philosophy.

“The front suspension is completely new, a tough and ambitious project for a team of our size, there are many aerodynamic changes, too, as would be expected given that this remains the primary area of development,” Key said in a statement.

“So, overall, the car will really look quite different to last year’s car. We took a lot of new, exciting directions, all of which appear to hold quite a bit of potential, so we’re looking forward to seeing them on track.”

The car also features an aggressively redesigned aero package, pushing existing concepts to their limits while optimizing the package in reduced spaces. This comprehensive overhaul extends to a completely new floor design, critical for downforce generation, setting the stage for a series of important updates throughout the season.

The C44‘s debut on the track is eagerly awaited, with a shakedown in Barcelona followed by three days of testing in Bahrain to officially kick off the season. This initial phase will be crucial in evaluating the car’s capabilities and setting the tone for the Stake F1 Team’s campaign.

Team Ambitions and Driver Outlooks

Alessandro Alunni Bravi, Team Representative, and James Key, Technical Director, shared their optimism and vision for the C44, emphasizing the collaborative effort that brought the car to fruition.

The team is focused not only on improving the car’s performance but also on enhancing every aspect of their operation to compete at the highest levels.

Both Bottas and Zhou expressed high expectations for the C44, noting the significant potential of the new package and the importance of team performance. Their comments reflect a shared ambition to advance from the previous season’s challenges and achieve greater success in 2024.

“The new C44 definitely feels different, both in terms of looks and of what we can expect from the car,” Bottas said. “We need to perform as a team and extract the most out of this package, which has some impressive potential – nothing else matters.

“Personally speaking, going into the third season together with a team, the objectives need to be lofty. My own expectations are high, we definitely need to make a good step and see good progress from last year, a season in which, in all honesty, we didn’t meet the targets that we set for ourselves.

“We need to fix that now, we need to step up our game and do better, but I have seen some real enthusiasm back in Hinwil and I am confident we can do it.”

The launch of the C44 is more than just the unveiling of a new car; it’s the manifestation of the Stake F1 Team‘s renewed identity and ambition. With a fresh approach on and off the track, the team is poised to redefine what success looks like in Formula 1.

As the C44 prepares to make its mark, the Stake F1 Team stands on the brink of a new and exciting chapter in motorsport history, ready to challenge conventions and elevate the racing experience for fans and competitors alike.
