F1 Spanish GP Starting Grid 2024 – With Penalties Applied

Lando Norris was fastest in Qualifying, meaning the McLaren driver is first on the starting grid for the 2024 Spanish GP

Lando Norris is first on the 2024 Spanish GP starting grid after an intense qualifying session, where he edged out Red Bull’s Max Verstappen by just 0.02s with his final flying lap. It also marks the McLaren driver’s second career pole position, having last achieved the feat at the 2021 Russian Grand Prix.

The Spanish GP starting grid sees Mercedes drivers showcasing strong performance, with Lewis Hamilton and George Russell locking out the second row. Hamilton, who had a competitive edge over Russell, will start in P3, while Russell takes P4.

Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and local hero Carlos Sainz are positioned in P5 and P6, respectively, following a closely contested qualifying session at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

Alpine’s Pierre Gasly impressed by securing P7, ahead of Sergio Perez in the Red Bull. However, Perez will drop three places on the grid due to a penalty from the Canadian Grand Prix, promoting Esteban Ocon and McLaren’s Oscar Piastri and Fernando Alonso in the Aston Martin.
