Spanish GP celebrities F1 2024: Marc Marquez leads celebrity stars in Barcelona

Marquez won six MotoGP championships between 2013-2019 and is a guest of Red Bull in Barcelona

The most dominant MotoGP rider of all time graces the Formula 1 paddock with his presence at the 2024 Spanish Grand Prix as Marc Marquez stars as a guest of Red Bull, whilst Luis Fonsi is another big name in attendance. Here are all of the celebrity stars at the 2024 Spanish GP.

Marquez was born just 62 miles away from the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in a small Spanish town named Cervera with a population of around 9000 people as of 2018, but he was destined for big things as he went on to become one of the greatest MotoGP riders of all time.

Through 175 starts, the Spaniard who is currently with Gresini Racing after leaving his only other team in Repsol Honda, has won 59 times with 104 podiums, 65 poles and 59 laps with 2740 career points, leaving him with a career record comparable to that of F1 stars Michael Schumacher or Lewis Hamilton.

But since his last championship in 2019, the 31-year-old has struggled to maintain the lofty heights he set for himself following a serious crash in the 2020 opener and then again in 2022 after undergoing surgery and suffering from diplopia.

However, despite being prone to some accidents, Marquez showed he hadn’t lost his speed as he put in a string of impressive performances in 2022 at an underwhelming Repsol Honda outfit to bag 113 points whilst sitting out of eight races to finish 152 points off the championship winner.

The form continued in 2023 with a surprise pole at the season opener in Jerez at his home race, and a podium in Japan to dominate his teammate before this continued on into the current 2024 season. Now with Gresini Racing, the veteran rider is third in the standings with a trio of podiums and an outside shot at a seventh title with consistency being his greatest weapon.

He recently stunned the MotoGP world in the same way Hamilton stunned F1 as the legendary motorbike racer announced a shock switch to the Ducati Lenovo team until 2026 to partner the defending back-to-back champion, Francesco Bagnaia until 2026. Will he finally climb back to the top of the field?

Luis Fonsi also Red Bull guest

Joining him at the 2024 Spanish GP is the popular musician, Luis Fonsi. Many readers won’t know his name, but they will know his voice, that’s for sure… The 46-year-old Puerto Rican exploded onto the music scene in 2017 with Despacito, collaborating with Daddy Yankee.

The reggaeton hit, which was later remixed by Justin Bieber, went on to hit number one in 40 nations around the world including the USA, UK and Canada as its infectious tune proves to be a sensation in nightclubs that lasts until this very day.

The track became the fastest video on YouTube to smash two billion views, taking 154 days to do so, whilst as of June 2024 it’s been viewed a total of 8.4 billion times for 53m likes, only beaten by Baby Shark.

The song, which will be regarded as the peak of Fonsi’s career, went on to win a Latin Grammy Award and a Billboard Music Award so with Fonsi a guest of Red Bull, will he be able to get a tune out of their car for Sunday’s Grand Prix?

Other celebrity stars at 2024 Spanish GP

Of course, F1 attracts more than two names to every Grand Prix and a host of regional stars will be in attendance, so without further ado, who are the other celebrity stars heading to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya to watch Lando Norris bid to fight off Max Verstappen and two charging Mercedes’ at the 2024 Spanish GP?

Chad Easterling: The ex-NBA star now works as the CEO of a marketing agency he formed with the billionaire basketball legend, Michael Jordan. The boss of Obsidianworks boasts 18,900 Instagram followers and will be a guest of F1.

Nigel Sylvester: An American BMX star, the man with half a million Instagram followers is known for showing off his skills on a bike to his viewers across various places around the world. As a guest of F1, will he be able to impress Marc Marquez with some of his tricks on two wheels?

Mauricio Rengifo: A Latin American musician who recently linked up with Fonsi to create his latest album, El Viaje which released in May 2024. He also served as a songwriter and produced for Fonsi’s 2017 track with Demi Lovato titled Echame la Culpa and on Despacito too. He’s a guest of Red Bull alongside his friend and colleague.
