Another dramatic Portland race

The race was not without its dramatic moments, notably when Wehrlein lost his front wing in a spectacular incident early on but managed to finish fourth, keeping his title aspirations alive.

It was a race to forget for McLaren and Mahindra, as their drivers were forced to retire due to various issues, including mistakes, punctures, and on-track collisions. Polesitter Jean-Eric Vergne managed a fifth-place finish, while ABT Cupra’s Nico Mueller secured valuable points for the team by finishing sixth.

Norman Nato claimed seventh for Andretti, followed by Maximilian Guenther for Maserati in eighth. Sebastien Buemi of Envision finished ninth despite a penalty, and Jake Dennis rounded out the top 10.

Cassidy’s Struggles

Cassidy’s weekend went from bad to worse in Portland. Leading the Driver Standings before the US double, Cassidy’s hopes were dashed by an unforced error that saw him spin out of the lead on the penultimate lap in Round 13. Further contact in Round 14 meant he left Portland without any points.

This opened the door for Evans, who now sits just 12 points behind his Jaguar teammate and is level with Wehrlein in the Driver Standings. Da Costa, with his recent run of victories, is now only 33 points behind the leader, with 58 points still available in the double-header finale in London.

Jaguar‘s challenging weekend has also tightened the Team Standings, with Porsche now just 33 points behind. The race for the Manufacturers’ Trophy sees Porsche leading with 407 points to Jaguar’s 388.
