-

The latest episode of The Total Motorsport F1 Show sees host Joe Krishnan joined by Formula 1 journalists Ewan Gale and Brandon Sutton to review a mute 2025 Japanese Grand Prix, discussing how McLaren may have cost themselves a chance to beat Max Verstappen.

The defending world champion seized pole position on Saturday in Qualifying and converted it to his maiden victory of the 2025 F1 season a day later by fending off Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri in Suzuka, with what is widely perceived to be a slower car.

It sees the Dutch lion roar back into championship contention, closing the gap to Norris to just a solitary point in the 2025 F1 driver standings as he bids to match Juan Manuel Fangio by becoming a five-time champion.

Total Motorsport F1 Show: Were McLaren at fault in Japan?

Whilst Verstappen produced a superlative drive, error free and doing just enough to remain out of DRS of the McLarens, did Andrea Stella and his papaya pit wall cost themselves a chance to win?

Piastri seemed to be quicker than Norris and despite pleading his case over the radio, the team opted not to let the Australian have a run at the Red Bull in a bid to make it three-straight wins for the papaya cars.

Was this the right call from McLaren? What were the variables at play? And did Norris cost himself the win with a dramatic moment at the pit exit? Listen in to follow all of the talking points from Asia.
