McLaren launched their 2023 F1 car as they celebrate their 60th anniversary, with the livery continuing their papaya brand that harks back to the team’s genesis under Bruce McLaren.
Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri will spearhead the team in 2023 – the latter making his debut in F1 – as they attempt to arrest their slide following a disappointing backwards step in 2022.
“The new car looks great, I’m looking forward to getting back on track and behind the wheel of the MCL60 for the first time,” Norris said. “This is my fifth year in Formula One and I’m hoping to carry positive momentum into the new season after a year of racing under the new era of regulations.
“It’s been a good challenge adapting to them and I feel that I’m in a positive position to keep on improving as a driver. I’ve enjoyed my journey with the team so far and to be involved in McLaren’s 60th anniversary is a privilege.”

Piastri: 2023 McLaren car looks impressive
McLaren’s 2022 season was a one-sided affair as Norris consistently fought Alpine at the front of the midfield, and was the only non-Red Bull, Ferrari or Mercedes, driver to score a podium – at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.
He finished ‘best of the rest’ with seventh place in the drivers’ championship but McLaren could only managed fifth in the constructors’ thanks to struggles on the other side of the garage.
Daniel Ricciardo scored less than a third of Norris’ points and had his contract cut short to make way for Piastri, who’s looking forward to getting his first taste of new F1 machinery.
“I’m delighted to get started with McLaren and make my F1 debut this season,” Piastri said. “The MCL60 is very impressive and it’s going to be a memorable year, the challenge ahead is an exciting one.
“The off-season has been great for me, and I’ve been working hard to prepare for the upcoming year, the time I’ve spent at the
factory and in the sim has been enjoyable and productive and everyone in the team has been welcoming. I’ve settled in well and I’m now fully focused on getting out on track in Bahrain.”
