It’s official, Max Verstappen has become a father as the Red Bull star announces the birth of his daughter with long-time partner, Kelly Piquet, ahead of the F1 2025 Miami GP.
The 27-year-old four-time world champion had skipped media day at the Miami International Autodrome to be present at the birth, and announced the successful deliver of a girl named Lily on May 2.
“Welcome to the world, sweet Lily,” Verstappen said in a post to Instagram, in an official announcement as he becomes a father. “Our hearts are fuller than ever.
“You are our greatest gift. We love you so much.”

The post quickly gained traction online and attracted over a million likes in under one hour as fans rushed to congratulate the 2025 Japanese GP winner and his partner, who is also the mother to Daniil Kvyat’s child.
“Congratulations,” wrote the official Formula 1 account.

“Can’t wait to meet,” said Verstappen’s sister, Victoria.
“Congratulations @maxverstappen1 @kellypiquet,” added Heineken, Europe’s largest beer brewer and a long-time sponsor of F1.
“Congrats with your beautiful little princess Lily,” added Robert Doornbos, ex-F1 driver for Minardi and Red Bull, who now works for Ziggo Sport.
Could Max Verstappen retire after birth of daughter?
Verstappen’s future in the sport has been subject to much speculation since he claimed his maiden championship at the 2021 Abu Dhabi GP, with the Dutchman warning the growing political atmosphere and expanding calendar could drive him away.
A man who values simplicity and family time, he has also warned he has little interest in remaining in such a demanding environment if he isn’t competing for wins and titles and he reaffirmed he could leave early back in November 2024.
“My sister has three kids,” Verstappen told Podpah. “Seeing more of them as they grow up, seeing them drive those remote cars or electric cars, it reminds me of when I was a kid.
“That makes me realise I don’t want to drive forever. I want to see them grow up, maybe see my own kids grow up and spend time with them.
“For me personally, I’ve already achieved everything that I wanted to achieve. So, everything else now is just a bonus.”
