F1 Miami GP 2025 Free Practice 1 LIVE: Latest Updates

FP1 Miami GP Results

End of FP1

That is the end of that and it means Oscar Piastri’s 1:27.128 is the fastest lap of the session and he is joined in the top three by Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen.

With a recovery vehicle now on track to try and remove Bearman’s Haas, there won’t be any practice starts for the cars either. Some drivers will have missed out on a fair amount of data thanks to the timing of that crash.

RED FLAG

Oliver Bearman has put his Haas into the wall and that brings out a red flag. With only just over four minutes left to go, that is likely to be it for FP1 in Miami.

More from the Singapore GP

Catch up with Total Motorsport's latest Singapore GP coverage, including Max Verstappen's victory at Marina Bay, Ferrari's costly strategy gamble, the full race classification, and the updated 2026 Formula 1 Drivers' and Constructors' Championship standings.

If anybody failed to get a flying lap in there on the softs, they may not thank Bearman for that. It was a lazy spin through a chicane and he ended up hitting the wall side on and is facing the wrong way. He’s out of the car and heading back to the pits.

6 minutes to go

Verstappen now goes quickest after the two Williams cars had previously put in the best laps on the soft tyre. Expect the leaderboard to be shaken up considerably in the final few minutes.

As we say that, Leclerc goes to P1 on the softs and is then immediately usurped by Piastri in his McLaren. Norris is on an outlap now.

10 minutes to go

Fernando Alonso has put in a soft-tyre flying lap now and only goes to P8, neither he nor Lance Stroll have shown any real pace with the Canadian down in P19 so far.

17 minutes to go

Plenty of cars in the pits at the moment so the soft tyres probably aren’t far away. The two Ferrari’s have not shown blistering pace so far as they sit in P6 for Leclerc and P8 for Hamilton.

Leclerc has been explaining how Ferrari can get big points in Miami, though.

22 minutes to go

It is still the medium tyre being favoured by almost every team but we are expecting some faster soft tyre runs in the next 10 minutes or so. It is still Russell leading from Antonelli, and Sainz rounds out the top three.

The fastest lap is a 1:28.058 from Russell and Antonelli is just +0.169 behind his teammate.

26 minutes to go

Lando Norris just had a narrow escape from the back of Esteban Ocon’s Haas. He was coming to the hairpin at the end of the back straight and went to go inside of the slow Haas just as Ocon moved into the space. That would have been a nasty one if Norris wasn’t so quick on the brakes.

34 minutes to go

There are some fairly big setup changes being made to Verstappen’s car. He is spending an extended period of time in the garage whilst some camber alterations are being made to that Red Bull. Any time spent in the garage is a problem here for these drivers given it is the only practice session of the weekend.

36 minutes to go

Isack Hadjar has put a good lap together in his pink Racing Bull car. The Frenchman is one of two cars on track on the hard tyre and he has gone P6, with Antonelli, Piastri and both Ferrari’s lower in the standings on their mediums.

42 minutes to go

Big moment for Russell as he almost loses the rear end of his Mercedes. He is currently the fastest man on track with Norris and Verstappen behind him, but he has been complaining about a lack of balance.

48 minutes to go

Early pace on the mediums from the two Williams cars. There is no point reading too much into the lap times at this early stage, but nonetheless, Williams will be pleased to see Sainz in P2 and Albon in P3. Verstappen is the leader so far having put together a lap that is half a second quicker than anyone else.

53 minutes to go

Norris has now been noted by the stewards for being out on track in an unsafe condition given there were two notable objects in the cockpit, one looked to be a torch and there was something else too. If that gets investigated and there is a punishment, it’s likely to be a team fine rather than a sporting punishment for Norris.

55 minutes to go

Lando Norris is complaining that the team has left ‘so many tools’ in the cockpit of the car and ‘everything is falling apart’. He’s boxing after one lap to get it all removed.

Also, Tsunoda is complaining that his seat is too high and he wants it adjusted.

Cars on track in Miami

We have cars on track in Miami for the first time this weekend. A reminder that Max Verstappen will be running an upgraded floor on his Red Bull, but there was only one available which means Yuki Tsunoda still has the same floor as earlier in the season.

Just a few minutes until the green light…

We’re very close to the first track action of the weekend in Miami. This is the only practice session that the drivers will get around what is still a very new track, before they’re thrown into competitive action with Sprint Qualifying coming later in the day.

Many of the drivers should get plenty more opportunity to learn this track, though, after this announce came shortly before FP1…
