Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc confirm the new floor introduced by Ferrari at the F1 2025 Bahrain GP is working, as the drivers are given a huge boost in their hopes for the season.
A torrid start to the ongoing Formula 1 campaign sees the Scuderia languishing fourth in the constructors’ standings and winless through three Grand Prix weekends, including a double disqualification in China.
Despite coming into the season with hopes of a first title since 2008, Maranello‘s engineers and mechanics find themselves considerably off the pace of McLaren; although it got worse than just that in the opening rounds.

Not only slow, they also have lacked an understanding of their career. Struggling to find the right set-up window for the SF-25, as well as battling chronic understeer and a compromised floor ride height.
However, upgrades introduced at the F1 2025 Bahrain GP aim to solve the issues with the floor and allow the team to begin to unlock the potential of the car, and in a huge boost to Ferrari both Hamilton and Leclerc confirm it’s working as expected.
“With Mercedes it seems that we are pretty much there,” Leclerc told F1 TV. “With Red Bull it’s a bit more difficult; I think Max [Verstappen] had one less tyre compared to us in FP2, so I think he’s probably a bit in front.

“I think there’s some performance still to be found on our side. Maximising the car, the upgrade, and we’ll see where that leaves us tomorrow.”
Hamilton grateful to Ferrari engineers afterF1 Bahrain GP breakthrough
Hamilton opened his F1 2025 Bahrain GP seeming a bit downhearted as he told Tifosi not to expect anything special from him or the team this weekend, which then appeared confirmed in FP2 when they found themselves fourth and eighth overall.
However, with Leclerc closing to just 0.012 behind George Russell, it appears Ferrari are finally back on the right path and the seven-time world champion couldn’t be more grateful to the engineers and employees at Maranello.
“The upgrades are definitely working,” Hamilton confirms to F1 TV. “A big, big thank you to everyone back home for working so hard on bringing the upgrades, because it’s never an easy thing.
“It’s a lot of work that goes on in the wind tunnel and a lot of work that goes on in fabricating and putting together these floors. It’s just good to see that we’re taking steps forward.
“We’re trying to now extract more from it and I hope we can make the right steps overnight to tomorrow.”
