Formula 1 returns to Europe this weekend with the 2022 Spanish Grand Prix playing host to the sixth round of the 2022 F1 season, and in terms of the weather at Montmelo, it is expected to be a mostly sunny weekend.
The inaugural Miami Grand Prix saw Red Bull and Max Verstappen continue to reel in Ferrari and championship leader Charles Leclerc, and the 2021 Drivers’ champion will be looking to make it a hat-trick of wins in Barcelona.
A popular venue for both drivers and teams, the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya witnessed the first shakedown of the 2022 car, meaning that both the engineers and drivers will have a significant amount of data to call upon for the upcoming Grand Prix.
Given that the circuit represents a true test of a car’s aerodynamic capability, the weather will no doubt play a crucial role in determining the teams’ approach to the weekend.
Friday, Practice 1 and Practice 2
The weather on Friday will hover between a pleasant 17 to 26 degrees Celsius. While clouds are expected to hang over the circuit, the chance of rain remains a paltry nine percent, meaning that the conditions are ideal for the drivers.
Saturday, Practice 3 and Qualifying
Much like Friday, the temperatures around the circuit are set to be pleasant if slightly warmer. The day will witness a high of 28 degrees Celsius and a low of 18 degrees Celsius with the chance of rain currently standing at seven percent.
Wind speeds at set to average around 8 km/h, meaning that the chances of crosswinds affecting a car’s aerodynamic performances aren’t significant.
Much like the two aforementioned days, Sunday will mostly be sunny with a bit of cloud cover ensuring that the temperatures are within the range of 18 to 29 degrees Celsius.
As things stand the chance of rain remains a minuscule two percent, meaning that the conditions couldn’t be any better for the drivers.
