The Brit aims to reclaim the lead of the drivers’ championship after a tough run of form.

Lando Norris sends Oscar Piastri a warning ahead of the F1 2025 Miami GP by vowing he feels “recharged” and “excited”, as the McLaren star aims to seize the lead of the drivers’ championship back at the Miami International Autodrome.

The Brit comes into the latest round of Formula 1 action on the back foot, having lost the lead of the drivers’ standings following his dramatic crash in qualifying at the Saudi Arabian GP, although he did recover to fourth at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit.

It was the latest unforced error on his part, following mistakes of differing scales at the Chinese GP, Japanese GP and Bahrain GP in the three races up leading to the weekend besides the Red Sea.

And despite his recovery from 10th on the grid, he slipped to 10 points behind his Australian colleague who, controversially, fended off Red Bull’s Max Verstappen to pick up 25 points in the Middle East.

Now with the chance to head back home and disconnect from the racing world, the 25-year-old has had the chance to rest and regroup and now Norris feels ready as he sends Piastri and warning ahead of the F1 2025 Miami GP.

“It’s been good to recharge after a busy triple-header,” Norris told McLaren. “But I’m excited to get back in the car, especially in Miami. It’s where I won my first F1 race, so this place is special to me.

“The fans here also bring a great atmosphere, so I’m excited to see all the papaya in the stands.

“Last week, I was back at the MTC with the team, and back in the sim to prepare for Miami. It’s a Sprint weekend which means there are more points to race for. It should be another good weekend – bring it on!”

However, despite Norris’ high ambitions for Florida, Piastri has no plans to go quietly as he finds himself eager to ensure he continues to lead the way at the top of the standings.

Following victories at the Bahrain International Circuit and in Jeddah, the man from Melbourne looks to make it three-in-a-row as Australia finds itself rooting for a prospective world champion for the first time since 2010.

“I’m excited to be getting back to business this weekend in Miami,” Piastri also told McLaren. “And will be aiming to execute another strong all-round weekend before we head into the European swing of the season.

“I love the city, the atmosphere and the people and it’s a track that I’m feeling very positive about. It’s also a Sprint weekend, so there will be plenty of opportunities to keep the current momentum and energy building.”
