Horner’s accuser breaks silence: Slams investigation as “one-sided”

Despite Red Bull's investigation clearing Christian Horner of any wrongdoing, there's still the possibility of an appeal

The unfolding Christian Horner scandal from accusations of inappropriate conduct continues to become more and more dramatic as a source close to the woman who made the claims against him accuses Red Bull GmbH of conducting a “one-sided” investigation.

The team principal had been under investigation for almost all of February before the holding company for the racing team declared that he had been cleared and the grievance dismissed, although the woman could still appeal.

But instead of appealing, her thoughts on the matter have gone public via one of her friends who took to British press to communicate her dismay at the conclusion of the probe – while Horner continues to deny any wrongdoing.

“We speak every day and she’s very unhappy – of course,” the relative told the Daily Mail. “In her way of thinking it’s all very one-sided and she’s been crucified.”

The source went on to suggest Red Bull were not impartial: “Are the Red Bull investigation team independent? Who knows?

“They’ve made comparisons in the newspapers about Christian being grilled for 12 hours or so… well how many hours was she grilled for? They don’t ask that question, but it is a lot more than that.”

On Thursday evening, the story took a dramatic twist. A Google Drive document was anonymous emailed to over 100 journalists and some of the most important figures within Formula 1 containing chats and photos allegedly sent between the 50-year-old and the accuser.

The documents contained a photo of a potentially phallic object although it is not yet clear if the images and chats are both valid or from Horner himself, who is currently denying the claims against his name.

Speaking on behalf of her friend, although we do not know if this was authorised, the source added that the friend was unable to discuss the situation with Horner due to tight disclosure agreements of private information.

“My reaction to all this is that it is disgusting,” the source continued. “In the words of Red Bull, Christian Horner has been cleared but I think many people look at that answer and can’t quite fathom out the truth behind it.”

She added: “If you work for a person like him, you live with many pieces of information that are not to be disclosed. She certainly hasn’t spoken to me about it [the WhatsApp chats].”

The complainant still works for Red Bull

Despite the investigation and situation, which Dutch media reports was known about as far back as December 2023, the woman has not yet left the company.

Her friend says she “loves” working there, with people claiming she is Horner‘s own personal assistant, but she has not travelled to the 2024 Bahrain Grand Prix with the crew.

One person who has gone out to the Middle-Eastern nation is Geri Halliwell, the wife of Horner, after going into a “meltdown” over the breaking and developing news story.

The Spice Girl will reportedly be visibly present at the race on Saturday, March 2 as she makes a statement of unity with her husband, who she married in 2015 and produced a son with in 2017.

“She took off before the email landed,” an insider told the Daily Mail. “I don’t know whether she will be at the race but it will be mayhem if she is.

“It would be nuts. She may even be flying home.”
