Formula E standings after 2024 Tokyo E-Prix

Max Gunter of Maserati was victorious at the inaugural Tokyo E-Prix as Round 5 of the 2024 Formula E season continued in Japan

-

Max Gunther‘s victory at the inaugural Tokyo E-Prix has shaken things up in the Formula E championship standings, with the battle at the top of the 2024 Driver Standings getting even closer as we move towards the European leg of the season.

A tactical blunder from Oliver Rowland saw the Nissan driver hand Gunther the race lead with 10 laps to go in order to save energy, but he was unable to re-take the German on the final lap and had to settle with another podium finish, his third in a row.

Jaguar, who were celebrating their 100th Formula E race, has something of a disaster with Mitch Evans hitting the wall and Nick Cassidy having his fastest qualifying time deleted, meaning he had to start 19th.

Nevertheless, Cassidy retains top spot in the 2024 Formula E Driver Standings, level with Pascal Wehrlein, with Rowland jumping to third thanks to his pole position and second place finish.
