Mortara claims sensational Diriyah E-Prix win

Pole sitter Nyck De Vries had a disastrous Race 2 at the 2022 Diriyah E-Prix

    -

A brilliant performance from Edoardo Mortara saw the Venturi driver seal victory in the second Formula E race of the Diriyah E-Prix, as he beat out Envision’s Robin Frijns and Venturi teammate Lucas di Grassi

Mercedes EQ car of Nyck de Vries, who had started on pole, led the initial stage of the E-Prix, and after the first round of attack modes, the race looked to have settled into a nice rhythm.

With Di Grassi behind the Mercedes car going into his second attack mode, he made a move on De Vries on Lap 16, making contact with the Dutchman, with Venturi teammate Mortara also making it past.

Then one lap later Mortara leapfrogged Di Grassi to take the race lead, who was then passed by Frijns in the final stages which prevented a Venturi 1-2, with the race finishing under the safety car after a crash from Alexander Sims.
