Reigning Formula E champion Nyck de Vries showed his class in Round 8 at the Berlin E-Prix with a masterful drive in the Mercedes EQ to take a comfortable win at the reverse Tempelhof Airport Circuit.
Pole sitter, and winner of Saturday’s race, Edoardo Mortara came in second, with the second Mercedes EQ of Stoffel Vandoorne battling to third place.
A mega start from De Vries saw the Dutchman get the jump on Envision’s Robin Frijns and Mortara with a bold move up the inside of Turn 1, which proved to be the key to the race win.
From there, De Vries built up a lead and took his attack mode early, and Mortara moved into first, but was quickly overtaken by the Mercedes EQ once again. From there, De Vries raced off into the distance.
“We’ve had a bit of a difficult ride the past three races,” said De Vries after the race in Berlin.
“Edo (Mortara) has been very strong all weekend so we definitely had to keep it clean, but the team managed very well on their side and I executed it, so I’m very pleased.”

Excellent weekend for Mortara
After a somewhat dominant win on Saturday, Mortara was unable to follow it up in the second race of the weekend, but a solid drive ensured second place.
Mortara took his first and second ever pole positions in Formula E at the Berlin E-Prix, and catapulted himself into championship contention once again, as he now sits 12 points behind leader Stoffel Vandoorne in the Driver Standings.
