Cassidy casts doubt over rest of Jaguar Formula E season

Nick Cassidy claims a Porsche walkover is on the cards for the remainder of the 2024 Formula E season and Jake Dennis has responded

Nick Cassidy believes Jaguar will be on the backfoot for the remainder of the 2024 Formula E season due to Porsche‘s efficiency advantage ahead of the Misano E-Prix.

Cassidy, who joined Jaguar this season, is just two points behind Porsche‘s Pascal Wehrlein coming into sixth race of the year.

He enjoyed a superb start to his first Jaguar campaign with a hat-trick of podiums including victory at the second Diriyah E-Prix.

“I had two weekends with some good pace but we haven’t converted, but I’m pretty happy,” Cassidy exclusively told Total-Motorsport.com.

“It’s probably going to be a Porsche walkaway. There are so many race tracks now, so it’s a very different championship to last year and it doesn’t really go in our favour.

“They have a step in efficiency on us at the moment and these tracks (conventional race tracks) are going to be very efficiency dominated.

“Qualifying on these tracks, I think Porsche, McLaren and Nissan are up the road for us. I think we are going to be in for a tough eight races.”

Dennis responds to Cassidy claim

Reigning Formula E world champion Jake Dennis fended off Cassidy in the latter stages of last season to win the drivers’ title and is within 10 points of championship leader Wehrlein this year.

Dennis, who has one win and a podium last time out in Tokyo to his name, laughed off Cassidy‘s comments when told about them.

“That’s just typical Nick!” said Dennis. “He’s always like that and thinks that he drives the worst car on the grid.

“It’s obviously going to be a good race for us and it will be good race for Jaguar and the best man will win.”
