Alpine F1 Team History
The Alpine F1 Team is the latest chapter in a story that began with Toleman Motorsport in 1981. After its acquisition by Benetton, the team won the 1994 and 1995 Drivers’ Championships with Michael Schumacher. Renault purchased the outfit in 2000, claiming titles in 2005 and 2006 with Fernando Alonso.
In 2021, the Renault F1 Team was rebranded as Alpine to showcase the French sports car brand. The team’s first win under the Alpine name came at the 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix with Esteban Ocon. Since then, Alpine has remained a competitive midfield presence, securing podiums and pushing towards the front through technical upgrades and driver development.
Today, Alpine combines the experience of its Enstone-based chassis team with the technical expertise of Viry-Châtillon’s engine department, maintaining its ambition to fight for regular podiums and, in the future, championships.
