About the Hungarian Grand Prix
The Hungarian Grand Prix has been held at the Hungaroring, outside Budapest, every year since it joined the World Championship in 1986. It was the first Formula 1 race behind the Iron Curtain and it has never moved. The track is short, tight and low on straights, which is why it is often compared to a kart circuit and why overtaking is hard work unless strategy opens a door.
The 2026 race ran from 24 to 26 July. Lando Norris took pole and won for McLaren, his first victory of the season, ahead of Max Verstappen and Kimi Antonelli. Heat is part of the weekend: the Hungaroring sits in a natural bowl and the asphalt holds temperature. Tyres and patience decide more races here than raw top speed.
