Former Formula 4 driver and son of FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem Saif Ben Sulayem has died in a road accident in Dubai, according to reports.

Following his father’s footsteps, Ben Sulayem became a racing driver and made it as high as UAE F4 in 2016-17, competing for the ATCUAE team in eight races.

During his partial campaign, Ben Sulayem competed alongside current F1 drivers Logan Sargeant and Oscar Piastri finishing 12th in the final standings and securing a best finish of seventh at Yas Marina.

Ben Sulayem, who became FIA president in 2021, succeeding former Ferrari boss Jean Todt recently stepped back from his role in the day-to-day running of Formula 1 with Nikolas Tombazis taking over his duties.

The FIA has said Ben Sulayem has requested privacy, and no statement will be issued.

All of us at Total-Motorsport.com would like to send our condolences to Ben Sulayem and his family.
