Fernando Alonso has offered his reaction to the much-anticipated F1 movie following a private screening for drivers during the 2025 Monaco Grand Prix weekend.
The two-time world champion, who currently drives for Aston Martin, spoke positively about how the movie reflects life inside the F1 paddock.
“It was a very nice movie,” Alonso said via Aston Martin social media channels. “And actually, it represents quite well what we have inside the paddock: the teams, the drivers.
“I think it’s quite a good thing for the fans around the world when they see the movie. I hope they like it as much as we do, and it was a very nice experience.”
The movie, co-produced by Lewis Hamilton and starring Brad Pitt as a fictional veteran driver, has been filmed over the course of two seasons at real Formula 1 events, with a custom-made car running on track alongside the current F1 grid. The film is expected to premiere in 2025 and aims to offer fans an immersive view of the sport.
Alonso, who has a small cameo in the film, appreciated seeing himself and his fellow competitors on screen in a context different from race weekends.

“It was fun also to see some of my colleagues, drivers, and myself as well, I have like two seconds in the movie. Even Lawrence [Stroll] is walking with the team principals on the pit lane,” Alonso said.
“So, all in all, obviously, we see all the familiar faces, they were very much integrated in the Formula 1 paddock for over two years. So it was nice to see the result.”
Capturing the atmosphere of Formula 1
The Spanish veteran highlighted a particular scene that resonated with him, the brief moment of solitude before the formation lap.
“I think a couple of the features in the movie, like the race start when you jump in the car. There is a lot of things going on on the grid with a lot of people, VIPs, etc,” Alonso said.
“But then you jump in the car and you are alone in silence for those 30 seconds before the green light, and you go for the formation lap.
“So I think that was very well captured in the movie, and I think not only that, also the speed, the overtaking, the pressure. So yeah, I think it’s a very nice film.”
He also joked about team owner Lawrence Stroll’s brief on-screen role. “No, I mean Lawrence, I think he was good on camera. So I think he will be a good actor and so movies probably, they will call him again,” Alonso added with a smile.
Feedback from drivers who attended the screening has generally been positive, with most praising the film’s depiction of the paddock atmosphere, race intensity, and emotional moments, even if some technical elements were slightly off.
For casual fans, the movie is expected to offer an authentic and thrilling portrayal of F1.
