Checo Perez critical of Red Bull gossip: Everyone in Formula 1 has an agenda

Reports have surfaced of unrest in the Red Bull camp, particularly between Helmut Marko and Christian Horner

Sergio Perez has sought to play down rumours circulating that Christian Horner and Helmut Marko are not seeing eye to eye at Red Bull.

Red Bull have swept all before them this season, with them winning the Constructors’ championship at a canter, whilst Max Verstappen has secured a third-straight Drivers’ title – leaving Perez in his wake.

However, according to Brazilian outlet Globo, all is not well at the Milton Keynes-based team among the top brass. They claim that there is a ‘tension’ between Team Principal Horner and long-term consultant Marko, with the latter potentially set to leave the team.

They also allege that Horner wants to see Yuki Tsunoda removed from the Red Bull family, with the Japanese driver currently competing for sister squad AlphaTauri.

Sergio Perez reacts to Horner/Marko Red Bull rumours

Both senior Red Bull drivers, then, were asked about the speculation ahead of the United States Grand Prix in Austin, with Max Verstappen labelling it ‘BS’ and team-mate Perez also taking a similar route with his answer:

“It’s just the same, everyone in Formula 1 has their own agenda – journalists, teams, they all want to create the best possible story out there,” said the Mexican.

“The team is in a great moment, Helmut is a very important part of the team, same as Christian, and I just think there are rumours around.”

Perez is no stranger to speculation and he has had to field questions about his own future within the team lately, given how comprehensively he has been outperformed by Verstappen in the other Red Bull RB19 this year.

The Mexican cut an unbothered figure concerning those rumours though, too, and will be fully focused on trying to kick-start this triple header with a positive result in Austin, before heading to his home race next weekend.
