Max Verstappen once again topped the timing charts in the second practice session of the British GP, just edging out the Ferrari of Carlos Sainz into P2 by 0.022 seconds.

Alex Albon was in the mix for the second session running for Williams, with the other Red Bull of Sergio Perez in fourth ahead of Albon’s teammate Logan Sargeant.

Lance Stroll was sixth for Aston Martin, with teammate Fernando Alonso back in 10th, with Nico Hulkenberg seventh for Haas.

The Alpine of Pierre Gasly was ninth, ahead of the McLaren of Oscar Piastri.

There was a late yellow flag in the situation for Nyck De Vries after his AlphaTauri suffered a puncture from coming into contact with debris on the track.

    Leclerc in the garage

Charles Leclerc failed to make it out on track for the session, with his Ferrari stuck firmly in the pits throughout FP2.

The car appeared to have an electrical issue which meant that it failed to venture out on track, leaving the Scuderia with a problem to fix before the final practice and qualifying on Saturday.

Mercedes were once more out of the top 10, as they had been in the first practice session, with George Russell in 12th and Lewis Hamilton back in 15th as the team tested a host of upgrades brought to their home race.
