United States GP weather update: What will conditions be like in Austin?

United States GP weather: How will conditions at the Circuit of the Americas affect the F1 race on Sunday?

The 2023 United States Grand Prix is set to take place in cloudy conditions though there is no rain forecast for Austin, the Grand Prix will also likely feature wind gusts and near 100 percent humidity in keeping with the weekend so far.

Qualifying, the Sprint Shootout and the Sprint Race have seen teams hone their set up for the race given the steady weather conditions at the Circuit of the Americas, with just slight dips in temperature as the weekend has progressed.

Charles Leclerc will start the race from first on the grid after Max Verstappen had his fastest lap time deleted in Qualifying. Meanwhile, the Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton looks to be on pace with the leading pack, other than Verstappen.

Saturday saw the Dutchman vanquish all before him in the Sprint Race, tough he will have a bit more to do in the US Grand Prix itself as he starts from sixth on the grid, though it’s expected he’ll be running at the front in Austin before long.

Austin weather forecast

As has been the case throughout the 2023 United States GP, the forecasts have temperatures in excess of the 30 degrees Celsius for the race, with humidity reaching 100 percent in time for the race with starts at 2pm local time in Austin.

These warm muggy conditions won’t be anything like those experienced in Qatar by the F1 drivers, as there will be a blend of sun and clouds throughout the day with 58 percent cloud cover predicted.

Wind proved to be something of an issue for some drivers in Austin and for the Grand Prix there is expected to be a SSE wind of 11 km/h, though gusts reaching up to 28 km/h are forecast.

Despite the high humidity and showers forecast for Monday in Austin, Sunday will be dry throughout, so there will be no rain at the Circuit of the Americas at all.
