How do the 2024 F1 Driver and Constructor Championship Standings look after Max Verstappen took victory at the Spanish GP in Barcelona

Max Verstappen showcased his racing prowess at the 2024 Spanish Grand Prix, clinching his seventh victory of the Formula 1 season despite starting from second position, as the Red Bull driver successfully held off pole-sitter Lando Norris to extending his lead in the F1 driver standings after the Spanish GP.

Verstappen overtook MercedesGeorge Russell on Lap 3 with a decisive move at Turn 1. This early lead allowed Verstappen to control the race, with the lead only changing hands during pit stops in Barcelona.

Norris found himself stuck behind Russell early in the race, which cost him valuable time in the battle for the lead. Despite a slow second pit stop, Norris managed to secure second place.

MercedesLewis Hamilton clinched his first podium of the season, finishing third after a series of intense battles with Ferrari‘s Carlos Sainz, who ended in sixth place. George Russell finished fourth after struggling with tyre issues in his final stint.

Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc finished fifth. Alpine had a strong showing with Pierre Gasly in ninth and Esteban Ocon in 10th, while Sergio Perez recovered from a grid penalty to finish eighth. Nico Hulkenberg and Fernando Alonso faced difficulties, finishing 11th and 12th, respectively.

F1 2024 Driver Standings after Spanish GP

Following the 2024 Spanish Grand PrixMax Verstappen extended his lead in the 2024 F1 Driver Standings over McLaren driver Lando Norris to 69 points who leapfrogged Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc in second. Leclerc is just two points adrift of Norris with Carlos Sainz fourth.

F1 2024 Constructor Standings after Spanish GP

Meanwhile in the 2024 F1 Constructor StandingsRed Bull‘s lead over Ferrari grew to 60 points in Barcelona, despite Perez only finishing eighth. McLaren in third trail the Scuderia by 33 points, and have an 86-point gap to Mercedes, with the Silver Arrows in fourth, ahead of Aston Martin.
