F1 Standings after 2025 Hungarian Grand Prix

Norris closes in on Piastri as McLaren tighten their grip on the Constructors’ Championship

-

The 2025 Hungarian Grand Prix delivered another twist in a thrilling Formula 1 season, with Lando Norris sealing victory at Hungaroring to cut Oscar Piastri’s his lead in the F1 championship standings.

A daring call and relentless composure from Lando Norris turned the 2025 Hungarian Grand Prix into a showcase for McLaren’s race-day prowess, as the British driver claimed victory under mounting pressure from teammate Oscar Piastri.

The final ten laps provided a tension-filled climax. The gap between the McLarens, nearly nine seconds when Piastri overtook Charles Leclerc, evaporated as Piastri relentlessly closed in, navigating both backmarkers and mounting tyre wear. By Lap 68, Piastri had DRS on his teammate and made his first serious attempt to pass at Turn 1, only to lock up and run wide.

With the laps winding down and Norris’ tyres hanging on, Piastri could not find another opening. Norris swept across the line with just 0.698s to spare, claiming his fifth victory of the season and cutting Piastri’s championship lead to single digits.
