George Russell was a cut above the rest performance in Montreal in the 2025 Formula 1 Canadian GP, securing his first win of the 2025 Formula 1 season to shake things up in the F1 championship standings.
From pole position, Russell made a clean getaway at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve and managed the race masterfully across two stints, never allowing Max Verstappen to mount a serious threat. As varying strategies unfolded across the pack, Russell’s pace and composure gave him a comfortable edge to seal his fourth career Grand Prix victory.
Behind him, Verstappen held second for Red Bull, unable to make inroads during the final stint. Rookie Andrea Kimi Antonelli delivered the drive of his career to claim a sensational third for Mercedes, his maiden F1 podium.
With four laps remaining, Norris overtook Piastri at the hairpin, only for the Australian to regain the position through the exit. As they raced down the straight toward the final chicane, Norris misjudged his closing speed and clipped the back of Piastri’s car. The contact sent Norris into the pit wall with terminal suspension damage and triggered a Safety Car that neutralised the race.
