F1 Standings after 2025 British Grand Prix

Norris closes in on Piastri, Hulkenberg shines for Sauber, and McLaren tighten their grip on the Constructors’ Championship after Silverstone drama

-

Lando Norris took a euphoric victory as the 2025 British Grand Prix as he capitalised on a penalty for McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri at Silverstone to tighten things up in the F1 championship standings.

Unpredictable weather, nail-biting drama, and a wave of emotion as Norris claimed his first victory on home soil for McLaren. The packed grandstands at Silverstone—with more than 168,000 spectators on race day, witnessed a race where fortunes changed minute by minute, and history was made both at the front and deeper in the field.

While all eyes were on the McLaren duel, another story was brewing behind them. Nico Hulkenberg, who had started a distant 19th for Sauber, made the most of inspired pit strategy and clean racing to move through the field.

Timing his switches between intermediates and slicks to perfection, Hulkenberg climbed up the order and then passed Lance Stroll for third when DRS was enabled. He then defended brilliantly against Lewis Hamilton, who was making his first Silverstone appearance as a Ferrari driver, to hold onto a long-awaited maiden podium in his 239th race.

The closing laps saw Verstappen recover to fifth after his earlier spin, salvaging crucial points for Red Bull Racing but falling 69 points behind Piastri in the championship. Pierre Gasly delivered an impressive sixth for Alpine, while Stroll, Alexander Albon for Williams, Fernando Alonso for Aston Martin, and Russell for Mercedes rounded out the top 10
