Max Verstappen topped the timing charts once again for Red Bull in the second Friday practice session for the Spanish GP.

The Dutchman was 0.2s faster than the Aston Martin of home favourite Fernando Alonso in second, with Nico Hulkenberg a surprise third for Haas as the American team brough a series of upgrades to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

Mercedes continued to struggle with their new car design and setup combination throughout the session, as they had earlier in the day, with Lewis Hamilton 11th overall and George Russell in 8th.

Monaco GP podium sitter Esteban Ocon was 5th, behind Verstappen’s Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez.
