In a momentous announcement for motorsport enthusiasts, Silverstone has confirmed its position as the enduring home of the British Grand Prix, extending its partnership with Formula 1 for an additional decade.

This new agreement guarantees that the iconic circuit will host the prestigious event until at least 2034, marking a continuation of its storied legacy into its ninth decade since hosting the inaugural Formula 1 Grand Prix in 1950.

The British Grand Prix has long been a highlight of the F1 calendar, known for drawing record crowds and a vibrant atmosphere that combines high-octane racing with a rich tapestry of entertainment.

The 2023 event set a new benchmark, attracting 480,000 fans over the weekend, including over 60,000 camping enthusiasts, drawn not only by the thrill of the race but also by an array of off-track festivities.

Silverstone‘s commitment to enhancing the fan experience was evident in its evening concerts featuring global music sensations like Stormzy and Kings of Leon, setting the stage for a weekend of unforgettable memories.

The 3.6-mile Silverstone circuit, with its challenging 18 corners, has been a battleground for the greatest names in Formula 1 history. From Giuseppe Farina’s pioneering victory in 1950 to modern-day heroes like Sir Lewis Hamilton, who boasts a record eight wins.

The track has seen its fair share of dramatic moments and legendary performances and circuit continues to be a favorite among the drivers, with current stars Max Verstappen, Fernando Alonso, and Carlos Sainz among its recent victors.

Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1, lauded the agreement, highlighting Silverstone‘s central role in the sport’s history and its unwavering appeal to fans worldwide. The commitment to keeping the British GP at Silverstone is a testament to the circuit’s world-class standards and its unique atmosphere, cherished by fans and drivers alike.

β€œI am delighted to announce that the British Grand Prix will remain on the calendar for ten more years with this agreement,” Domenicali said in a statement.

Silverstone is an iconic venue at the heart of F1 history and as it approaches its ninth decade hosting Grand Prix, the event continues to attract fans from around the world for fantastic racing on track and the amazing fan experience off it.

“I would like to thank Stuart Pringle and the Silverstone team for their hard work and dedication to take the British Grand Prix to new heights and I look forward to working closely with them as they look to further improve the facilities and fan experience over the next ten years.”

The Heart of British Motorsport

Great Britain’s contribution to Formula 1 extends beyond the track, with seven of the championship’s teams based within close proximity to Silverstone.

The sport has been a significant contributor to the UK’s economy, job creation, and the manufacturing industry, thanks to groundbreaking research and development initiatives.

Moreover, F1’s investment in education, through university scholarships and STEM workshops, underscores its commitment to nurturing the next generation of British engineering and driving talent.

The 2024 British GP is scheduled for July 4-7, promising another exhilarating chapter in the Silverstone saga. Pringle, CEO of Silverstone, expressed his delight and anticipation for the future, emphasizing the deal’s role in fostering the circuit’s development and enhancing the fan experience.
