F1 rival reveals flood of CVs received from Red Bull after Adrian Newey departure

Ferrari, Mercedes, McLaren and Aston Martin have all been linked with a swoop for Adrian Newey after his Red Bull exit

Red Bull could be facing an exodus of technical staff after Adrian Newey‘s bombshell exit from the team, if Zak Brown is to be believed as the McLaren boss said a host of CVs have been sent to Woking from Red Bull employees.

Adrian Newey‘s confirmed exit has triggered yet another round of rumours suggesting Max Verstappen could also leave Red Bull, against the background of the ongoing scandal of Christian Horner‘s alleged inappropriate and controlling behaviour against a female employee.

And while Horner has leapt straight onto the defensive, claiming Red Bull are set to continue with minimal disruption, that’s done little to dispel the narratives sewn by the uncertainty over the futures of the team’s three highest-profile figures.

“We’ve seen an increase in CVs coming our way from the team,” Brown told the media at the 2024 Miami Grand Prix.

“I think Adrian is the most successful designer of all time. So in addition to the technical, that he brings, to the racing team, people want to work for people like Adrian Newey and work alongside him.

“So I think they’ll be missing what he brings to the team from a pure technical point of view. And then I think the leadership and the excitement people get from working with him will be missed.”

Krack avoids echoing Brown comments

However, Aston Martin team principal Mike Krack said he hasn’t seen the same influx of CVs from Red Bull employees looking for a switch, and added this move will create opportunities for the reigning champions.

While Newey is undoubtedly the mastermind of Red Bull‘s recent F1 dominance, some in the sport have questioned his ‘old-fashioned’ working methods and highlighted the difference Verstappen makes compared to Sergio Perez.

“Again, if someone of that skills and experience and qualities is leaving a team it has an impact,” Krack added. “On the other hand, you know, there will be others.

“There is always opportunities as well for other people. It’s a team sport these days, you know, it’s very, very large teams that work together.

“And actually, to say much more you will have to be in the team because each team is also a little bit different, structured differently and working differently. So to really say what impact it will have, it will be a pure guess.”
