Lando Norris produced a lap record in Monte Carlo to put his McLaren top of the Monaco GP 2025 Qualifying results, just ahead of Charles Leclerc in the Ferrari, with Oscar Piastri also of McLaren third fastest in the as the F1 grid was set in the Principality.
The McLaren driver pulled out all the stops on his final flying lap, narrowly denying Charles Leclerc the chance to start his home race from the front of the grid.
Leclerc, who had looked strong throughout the qualifying hour, was forced to settle for second after being edged out by just 0.109s. It was a heartbreaking conclusion for the Ferrari star, who had topped every practice session leading up to Saturday’s all-important shootout.
Behind them, Oscar Piastri ensured it was a landmark session for McLaren by securing third place on the grid. The Australian was quick throughout all three sessions and kept himself firmly in the fight with a composed and aggressive final run on soft tyres.
