Lewis Hamilton hopes to inspire like Senna as he reveals biographical documentary and Apple partnership

The seven-time world champion is producing his own documentary with the help of the global tech giants

Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton has revealed that he is currently filming and producing a documentary about himself with the help of Apple.

The seven-time Formula 1 world champion was inspired as a kid by Ayrton Senna’s own documentary and he wants the same impact to be had on the next generation of drivers.

Even though he is a world-famous sports star, Hamilton admitted that it was strange having cameras follow him everywhere he goes but he wouldn’t want it any other way.

“I thought I’d already announced that! I’m producing my own documentary along with Apple,” Hamilton told select members of the press, including Total-Motorsport.com, ahead of the 2023 Spanish Grand Prix.

“It feels strange having a camera follow you around but it’s really about my life, my career and my journey to where I am with the hope of doing what Senna’s documentary did for me as a kid.

“Maybe this can do the same for the next young kid watching at home.”

Not the big step they wanted

Mercedes brought new upgrades to Monaco and they did appear to work with Hamilton finishing fourth ahead of his teammate George Russell.

But while there were no nasty surprises for the Brackley-based outfit, Hamilton does not believe the new parts will give them the one second they need per lap in race trim.

“The true step we want to make is that one-second delta in race pace, we haven’t quite managed that,” Hamilton added.

“It is a step in the right direction. What I felt last weekend was more confidence in the car and being able to commit to the corners.

“I’m hoping that’s the same at this track but ideally even better and hopefully the flow of the car is better and in following as well.”
