F1 Japanese Grand Prix 2024 – Race Results

Max Verstappen took victory at the 2024 Japanese GP in Suzuka, leading aRed Bull 1-2

Max Verstappen brushed away any doubts about Red Bull‘s dominance as he strolled to victory at the 2024 Japanese Grand Prix, leading teammate Sergio Perez to a 1-2 finish in Suzuka.

The victory at Suzuka marked Verstappen‘s third consecutive win from pole position, and his third victory in the first four races of the F1 2024 season, solidifying his position at the top of the driver standings after a setback in Melbourne due to brake issues.

Perez, coming off a strong qualifying session where he narrowly missed the pole, played a crucial role in securing yet another 1-2 finish for Red Bull, continuing their perfect start to the season with prior victories in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.

Carlos Sainz leveraged fresher tyres from a later pit stop to overtake McLaren‘s Lando Norris and teammate Charles Leclerc, who opted for a different strategy with one less pit stop.

Leclerc managed to hold off Norris for fourth and fifth places, respectively. Meanwhile, Fernando Alonso led the charge for Aston Martin, finishing sixth ahead of the closely matched Mercedes or George Russell and McLaren‘s Oscar Piastri. The race’s tense moments peaked when Piastri and Russell nearly collided at the race’s end, a moment that was later scrutinized by stewards.

Lewis Hamilton, following the same strategy as Russell, clinched ninth place, while Yuki Tsunoda earned the final point for RB in tenth place after executing a series of impressive overtakes.

An initial lap incident that saw Daniel Ricciardo of RB and WilliamsAlex Albon collide. Logan Sargeant managed to recover from a late-race off-track excursion to finish 17th.
