F1 Fastest Lap – 2023 British GP

Max Verstappen took victory and fastest lap at the 2023 British GP

Max Verstappen took another Formula 1 race win after dropping to second at the race start of the British Grand Prix, and bagged the fastest lap as well.

Norris went on to finish second, ahead of Lewis Hamilton after a late safety car threw the established order out of the window.

The world champion extends his lead at the top of the F1 standings to 99 points over Sergio Perez going into the Hungarian GP.

Norris led the race for five laps before the pace of the Dutchman and the Red Bull took control of the race as Verstappen regained the lead into Brooklands corner.

From there on, Verstappen managed the gap to Norris as he slowly pulled away from the McLaren to ensure that his Red Bull team would have had a safe window for a pit stop.

Meanwhile, Norris and Oscar Piastri continued to manage the gap to the Ferraris and Mercedes behind, accepting that they were not racing Red Bull.

A double podium seemed like it was in the bag until a full safety car was deployed following the retirement of Kevin Magnussen on lap 31 due to an engine failure on the Haas.

Both cars fitted the hard tyres whilst the ones around them opted for the softs, including the world champion in the lead.

Verstappen pitted under the safety car and after the restart set a time of a 1:30.275 on the soft tyres as he quickly disappeared up the road to make sure he won his first British GP – having previously won the 70th Anniversary GP, also at Silverstone.

The time was only 0.268 faster than the McLaren of Norris on the harder tyre, a testament to the speed the MCL60 had.

Where is the next F1 2023 race?

With the F1 circus finished at Silverstone, we move on to the 2023 Hungarian Grand Prix which will be held at the Hungaroring, Budapest over the weekend of July 21-23.
