A magical move into Turn 1 at Imola allowed Max Verstappen to put his Red Bull top of the Emilia Romagna GP 2025 results, well ahead of McLaren driver Lando Norris with his teammate Oscar Piastri third fastest to claim the final podium position.
Verstappen produced a tactical and clinical performance to win at Imola, outpacing both McLarens and delivering Red Bull a symbolic victory in their 400th Formula 1 Grand Prix start. Having started second on the grid, Verstappen executed a daring move around the outside at the Tamburello chicane to jump polesitter Piastri.
From there, he dictated the race through changing conditions and race interruptions, holding onto the lead through Virtual Safety Car and full Safety Car phases to take his second win of the season. Lewis Hamilton delivered one of his best drives of the season, climbing from 12th on the grid to finish fourth for Ferrari, thanks to an offset strategy that allowed him to attack on fresher tyres late in the race.
