With more wet conditions at Zandvoort, Alpine driver Pierre Gasly managed to keep his cool and topped the 2024 Dutch GP Free Practice 3 results, just ahead of Haas’ Kevin Magnussen.
McLaren have brought a large update to Zandvoort, and Lando Norris topped Friday’s FP1 session with George Russell fastest in FP2. Norris was fourth overall in FP3, but a 40-minute red flag mean’t little can be learned from Saturday morning’s practice session.
FP3 was heavily disrupted by a significant crash involving outgoing Williams driver Logan Sargeant, which caused a lengthy red flag period and shook up the order.
The session kicked off under wet conditions at the Zandvoort Circuit, with the rain-soaked track requiring drivers to start on wet tires. While the gusty winds from Friday had calmed down, the slippery conditions still made the tight, twisty circuit a formidable challenge.

Sargeant lost control of his Williams after running over the kerb and dipping a wheel onto the grass at Turn 3, resulting in a violent collision with the barriers. Fortunately, Sargeant emerged unscathed, but the damage to his car necessitated significant repairs ahead of qualifying.
A red flag was brought out following Sargeant’s crash, halting the session for an extended period as marshals worked to clear the debris and repair the barriers. Just before the stoppage, Alonso had set the fastest time on intermediate tires.
The session resumed with just two minutes remaining, triggering a frantic scramble from the drivers to get a final lap in. As the checkered flag fell, it was Gasly who topped the timesheet, followed closely by Magnussen and Sauber’s Valtteri Bottas.
Lando Norris placed fourth, ahead of Alonso, Esteban Ocon, Oscar Piastri, Lance Stroll, Nico Hulkenberg, and Carlos Sainz, who completed the top 10.
