Biography and Early Career

Lance Stroll (born October 29, 1998 in Montreal, Canada) grew up with a deep motorsport pedigree and substantial family support. The son of billionaire investor Lawrence Stroll, Lance began karting at age 10 and quickly won regional titles. By 2010, he was signed to the Ferrari Driver Academy, making rapid progress through junior formulas.

He dominated the Italian F4 Championship in 2014, won the Toyota Racing Series in 2015, and in 2016 clinched the FIA European Formula 3 title with 14 victories. Backed by his father’s investments, Stroll was set on a clear path toward Formula 1.

Formula 1 Career

2017–2018: Williams

Stroll debuted with Williams in 2017, becoming the first Canadian F1 driver since Jacques Villeneuve. That year he scored his maiden podium in Azerbaijan, finishing third, and became the youngest rookie to achieve a podium in F1 history. In 2018, with Williams struggling, he managed only 6 points.

2019–2020: Racing Point

Following his father’s purchase of the Force India team, rebranded as Racing Point, Stroll moved in 2019. A standout moment came in Germany where he briefly led before finishing fourth. The 2020 season brought his career-best year, including podiums in Italy and Bahrain, plus a stunning pole position in a wet Turkish Grand Prix.

2021–Present: Aston Martin

With Aston Martin returning as a works team in 2021, Stroll partnered Sebastian Vettel. Results were inconsistent, but he delivered solid points finishes. In 2023, despite pre-season injuries, Stroll achieved his highest career points tally (74) and tenth in the standings. The 2024 and 2025 seasons were more challenging, with fewer points but continued flashes of strong racecraft, particularly in mixed conditions.

Driving Style and Strengths

Stroll is known for exceptional race starts, wet-weather skill, and calmness under pressure. His ability to gain positions on opening laps is a consistent strength, and his tire management allows for flexible race strategies. However, his qualifying pace remains an area for improvement, often leaving him starting further down the grid.
