F1 Standings after 2024 Canadian Grand Prix

How do the 2024 Formula 1 Driver and Constructor Championship Standings look after Max Verstappen of Red Bull took victory at the Canadian GP in Montreal

Max Verstappen and Red Bull returned to form at the 2024 Canadian Grand Prix after an eventful race saw Verstappen overcome rain, safety cars, and fierce competition to secure victory ahead of Lando Norris

Early in the race, MercedesGeorge Russell led from pole, but a charging Norris overtook both Russell and Verstappen. However, an untimely Safety Car caused by Logan Sargeant‘s crash dropped Norris to third, allowing Verstappen to regain the lead.

Verstappen handled the changing conditions masterfully, maintaining his lead through further rain showers and another Safety Car period caused by a collision between Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon. As the track dried, the drivers switched to slick tyres, and Verstappen continued to dominate.

Norris secured second place after a mid-race battle with Russell, who eventually finished third following a late duel with his teammate, Lewis Hamilton, and McLaren’s Oscar Piastri. Mercedes drivers Russell and Hamilton provided additional excitement by going wheel-to-wheel after pitting for fresh slick tyres under the second Safety Car.

Russell secured third place on the penultimate lap. Meanwhile, Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll delivered a double points finish for Aston Martin, with Daniel Ricciardo finishing eighth to earn his first points of the season.

Behind the top finishers, Yuki Tsunoda‘s late mistake saw him drop down the order, allowing Alpine‘s Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon to claim double top-10 finishes.

The Haas duo of Nico Hulkenberg and Kevin Magnussen initially gained positions by starting on wet tyres but ultimately finished just outside the points. Charles Leclerc and Sergio Perez were among the retirees, contributing to Ferrari’s disappointing weekend.
