The summer break may be over but it’s as you were in Formula 1 after Max Verstappen took his ninth consecutive win of the season at the 2023 Dutch Grand Prix and further extended his lead in the Driver Standings over Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez.
Verstappen, who started from pole position in Zandvoort, had a nightmare first few laps as the rain came pouring down one lap in. Perez was first to change to intermediates and surged into first, but it wasn’t long before the Dutchman had passed this Red Bull teammate.
Aston Martin were back on the podium with Fernando Alonso for the first time since Canada, which helped the Spaniard close the gap to Perez in the Driver Standings, while moving 12 points clear of Lewis Hamilton.
Both George Russell and Charles Leclerc failed to finish the race and were leapfrogged by Carlos Sainz after the Ferrari man ended the Dutch GP in fifth.
