F1 Austrian GP 2024: Schedule and Session Start Times

Find out when the 2024 Austrian Grand Prix takes place, including the F1 session start times for the practice, qualifying and Sunday’s race

-

As the 2024 Formula 1 season progresses, the Austrian Grand Prix stands out as landmark race that has produced many classics over the years, with devastating impacts on the F1 standings at the time, so make sure you know when the session times for the Austrian GP

Many will remember Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg’s 2016 crash or Max Verstappen’s incredible charge through the field in 2019, with both races highlighting what might be in store.

Hosted at the Red Bull Ring exclusively since 1969, the Austrian GP is popular for it’s short layout and fast corners, making it a great way to see an F1 car in full flow. Located in Spielberg, 382km away from Vienna, this circuit features a three long straights, a technical Sector 2 and high-speed Sector 3, making it test of bravery, engine power and engine reliability across 71 laps.

For 2024, the circuit will feature gravel at the exits of Turn 9 and Turn 10 in a bid to combat around 1200 track limit violations from the previous year, which resulted in a comical amount of post-race time penalties distributed to eight drivers.

The event is also a Sprint Weekend, meaning the format deviates from the original template with reduced Free Practice sessions to host Sprint Qualifying and the Sprint, giving fans extra opportunities to see drivers attack the track.

As part of the European leg of the season, the Austrian GP holds additional significance for Verstappen with the circuit regularly flooded by his Orange Army, selling out just about any grandstand opened to fans for the event, whilst it serves as Red Bull’s home race too.

Our detailed schedule ensures you won’t miss a moment of the thrilling Austrian GP, from the first practice lap to the chequered flag and beyond on race day. Stay tuned to Total-Motorsport.com for comprehensive live F1 coverage and updates throughout the Austrian GP weekend.
