Aston Martin set for a name change in 2024

Aston Martin are enjoying their most successful season in F1 since returning in 2021

Aston Martin are set to change the name of their Formula 1 team in 2023 as primary sponsor Cognizant evolve in their partnership into a “second stage”.

The Silverstone-based team have scored eight podiums and enjoyed a successful 2023 season that saw them go from being a midfield team to an outfit that regularly fight for the podium through Fernando Alonso.

Cognizant is an American company that specialises in information technology and as a consulting group, based in New Jersey, United States. They partnered with Aston Martin in 2021 as the team rebranded from Racing Point, the same year it ranked 185th on the Fortune 500.

Cognizant was Aston Martin‘s first title sponsor in F1,” Lawrence Stroll, owner of Aston Martin F1 team said in a statement. “They fully understood how a high-profile sports marketing partnership could raise their international profile, and the first phase of our relationship has been spectacularly successful in increasing their global brand awareness.

“As we enter this new phase of our partnership, we will deepen our relationship: we see things the same way, have the same goals, and work together in a truly unique and innovative way.

“It’s a pleasure to work with such an ambitious and like-minded partner, so today’s announcement that they have decided to extend their relationship with us speaks volumes about the harmony we enjoy together.”

Who will replace Cognizant?

Reports suggest that Aramco, the Saudi Arabian oil franchise that sponsors F1, is likely to take over as title sponsor.

The natural gas giant turned a profit of $535 billion in 2022 and is one of the largest companies in the world. It is financed by the Saudi state, whom it is also owned by, as they continue their expansion into professional sports.

Aramco are often seen at races as a sponsor on advertising boards and they also sponsor the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, which is hosted at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit on the Arabian coast.

F1 announced a partnership with Aramco in March 2020 which saw them receive advertising board rights, title partner rights and broadcasting rights at selected races.
