Alex Albon commits to Williams with new multi-year deal

After penning a new contract with Williams, Albon will be with the team until at least the end of the 2026 F1 season

Williams have confirmed that Alex Albon has renewed his commitment to the team by signing a multi-year contract extension, ensuring Albon remains a significant figure at Williams as the team adapts to the evolving Formula 1 regulations and continues its trajectory towards becoming a competitive force in the championship.

Since his debut with the team in the 2022 F1 season, Albon has been a key player in Williams’ revival. His relentless drive and performance on the circuit have been instrumental in securing the team’s best championship result since 2017, finishing seventh last year.

The Thai driver’s influence extends beyond the track, as his technical insights and feedback have proven invaluable in refining the team’s strategy and approach. The extension of Albon‘s contract is a testament to Williams’ long-term strategy aimed at rebuilding and strengthening their competitive edge.

Albon expressed his enthusiasm about the continued partnership, highlighting the progress made and his belief in the team’s potential.

“It has been a difficult start to the year but since joining Williams we have made significant progress together and I have seen the huge changes happening behind the scenes to take us back to the front of the grid.

“This is a long-term project that I really believe in and want to play a key role in which is why I have signed a multi-year contract. The journey will take time but I am confident we are building the right team to move forward and achieve great things in the years to come.”

Albon’s confidence in Williams

James Vowles, Team Principal at Williams, also shared his satisfaction with securing Albon’s future with the team.

“We are delighted to secure Alex’s long-term future with Williams Racing,” Vowles said. “He has exceptional talent, technical input, and dedication to the cause, and this is a huge vote of confidence in Williams and the journey back to competitiveness that we are on.

“Since joining, Alex has consistently demonstrated his ability to perform under pressure, and signing him for the long-term is a big piece of the puzzle of moving us up the grid.”

This renewed partnership not only reinforces the mutual trust and commitment between Albon and Williams but also sets a foundation for future successes as they aim to climb higher in the Formula 1 standings.
