-

Lando Norris delighted the home fans at at Silverstone and put his McLaren top of the British GP 2025 Free Practice 2 results, just ahead of Charles Leclerc in the Ferrari with Lewis Hamilton in the third fastest in the second practice session of the F1 weekend.

The British driver, who sits 15 points adrift of team-mate Oscar Piastri in the championship standings, edged out Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc by just over two tenths of a second and was 0.301 seconds clear of Lewis Hamilton. Norris’s best lap of 1:25.816 capped a productive day for McLaren, reinforcing his status as a genuine threat on home soil. The support from the Silverstone faithful was palpable, with Norris keen to deliver in front of the grandstands.

Behind Norris, Ferrari showed renewed promise. Charles Leclerc finished just 0.222 seconds adrift, and Hamilton—making his first British Grand Prix appearance as a Ferrari driver—was a mere 0.079 seconds behind his team-mate in third. The pair continued Ferrari’s strong start to the weekend after Hamilton topped the first practice session and Leclerc impressed during race-simulation runs in the second.

Piastri, meanwhile, struggled to match Norris’ outright pace on Friday, ending the session 0.470 seconds off his team-mate. However, his long-run performance during race simulations suggested he remains in the hunt for Sunday’s main event.
