F1 2025 Belgian Grand Prix Starting Grid

McLaren lock out the front row as Spa delivers Qualifying shocks

-

The 2025 Belgian GP Starting Grid has been set in dramatic fashion, with Lando Norris pulling a sensational lap out the bag to take pole position, upsetting McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri, who had expected to take top top on the grid at Spa-Francorchamps.

Piastri pushed his McLaren to the limit, missing out on pole by just 0.085s, securing a strong one-two for the team. Charles Leclerc slotted his Ferrari into third after improving late in the session, edging ahead of Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, who could only manage fourth after struggling to hook up his final effort.

Alex Albon delivered an outstanding result for Williams, qualifying fifth and splitting the frontrunners, while George Russell kept Mercedes in contention with sixth. Red Bull’s Yuki Tsunoda was seventh, just ahead of both Racing Bulls rookies, Isack Hadjar and Liam Lawson, who secured eighth and ninth. Gabriel Bortoleto rounded out the top ten with a strong drive for Sauber.
