Your FP1 results

Here are the full results from Free Practice 1 in Belgium. We’ll be back for Sprint Qualifying later today.

End of FP1

A very busy but largely incident-free FP1 comes to a close in Belgium. The likes of Lance Stroll and Carlos Sainz will be annoyed that they could not get a full session of running in thanks to car issues, whilst Oscar Piastri will be happy to have set the fastest lap when he eventually switched to the soft tyre.

More from the Singapore GP

Catch up with Total Motorsport's latest Singapore GP coverage, including Max Verstappen's victory at Marina Bay, Ferrari's costly strategy gamble, the full race classification, and the updated 2026 Formula 1 Drivers' and Constructors' Championship standings.

There were a few wobbly moments at Eau Rouge for some drivers, with Isack Hadjar particularly getting nervous by the setup of his Racing Bull. Max Verstappen showed good pace despite complaining about the car towards the end of the session, whilst the two Mercedes looked very happy on the medium tyre.

Yuki Tsunoda also looked happy on the mediums part-way through the session, but he failed to build on it and ended up down in P18.

5 minutes to go

Lots of cars having a go on the soft tyres now, with Piastri quickest. Russell has just managed to go second on the medium tyre, whilst Antonelli is P5 on the medium tyre.

Norris is missing from the usual suspects at the top of the leaderboard, as he ran slightly into the gravel in the final sector on that recent flying lap. He is down in P10.

15 minutes to go

Only Franco Colapinto has had a go on the soft tyre so far and they took him up to P8. It is still Leclerc on top with a hard-tyre lap time of 1:44.148, with Piastri five thousandths of a second behind.

Quite a few cars are into the pits now, but more flying runs will come before the end of the session.

24 minutes to go

After plenty of drivers hinted at having a crash in the early stages of this session, they all seem to be a lot more settled now and are just trying to extract as much lap time as they can from the cars.

Almost every car is bottoming out quite severely at the entry of Eau Rouge.

31 minutes to go

There is decent pace being shown by both Red Bulls right now. Verstappen sits in P3 and will expect to go even quicker, whilst Yuki Tsunoda is in P6 having had some runs on the medium tyre.

It is Leclerc up top right now, having gone marginally quicker than Piastri on the hard tyre. The Haas’ will also be happy so far, with Ocon in P4 and Bearman in P8.

38 minutes to go

Some drama involving the two Ferrari’s and Gabriel Bortoleto. Lewis Hamilton was going very slowly through Eau Rouge and Bortoleto was doing the same just behind him, but as Charles Leclerc came through on a flying lap, Bortoleto had to dive into the run-off area and then complained on the radio about Hamilton’s positioning.

Leclerc was soon on the radio, saying: “Ah come on, this is dangerous.”

45 minutes to go

A number of drivers have been locking up into Turn 1, and you do get the feeling that they’ve very aware of how quickly they need to understand this track and car combination.

Stroll has managed to get out of the pits as all he needed was a seat change, whilst Sainz is still stuck.

51 minutes to go

Both Lewis Hamilton and Alex Albon have had wobbles that could easily have resulted in serious crashes. Sainz and Stroll are still sat in the pits with their respective problems, whilst Max Verstappen on the medium tyre has set the fastest time so far.

58 minutes to go

There is actually blue sky over the track in Belgium right now, which is a very rare sight and one that many fans will welcome given the events of 2021.

As you’d expect, everyone is trying to get on track as quickly as possible given it’s a Sprint weekend and there is competitive action to come later today.

Carlos Sainz isn’t having the start he wants though, his Williams has gone into limp home mode and there is a ‘critical problem’ with the car. He is now, limping home, to the pits. He’s been joined by Lance Stroll who has a problem.

FP1 is just moments away

Less than 10 minutes until we see cars on track at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps for the 2025 Belgian Grand Prix. With less than 10 points separating the two McLaren drivers in the championship, the title battle is really starting to heat up.

There will also be some focus on the pace of Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc in the Ferrari’s, as they arrive with a suspension upgrade which could make a difference to their fortunes. It is also the first race weekend since Christian Horner’s departure from Red Bull, meaning Laurent Mekies will be on the pit wall instead.
