F1 2025 Bahrain GP – Fastest Lap

Oscar Piastri dominated proceedings in the Middle East, but did he claim the fastest lap award?

-

Oscar Piastri enjoyed a fine F1 2025 Bahrain GP for McLaren by cruising to victory at the Bahrain International Circuit, on a day that was made even sweeter as the 23-year-old claimed the fastest lap too with a 1:35.140.

The Australian nailed his start on Lap 1 and never looked in trouble throughout the rest of the 57 laps as he slowly, but surely, extended away from the chasing pack behind him.

Even when the safety car was deployed for debris, he showed his typical steely nerve to ace the restart and continued on his quest to victory as he eventually opened up a 15.499 gap to George Russell behind.

It’s the first time the youngster has ever taken pole, won and claimed the fastest lap too, although it doesn’t count as a Grand Slam because the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc took the lead through the pit-stop phases.

Piastri reacts to F1 2025 Bahrain GP win

The fastest lap shows just how under control Piastri had the F1 2025 Bahrain GP as he did exactly what he set out to do after securing pole by producing one of the most comfortable performance of his career to date as he takes his third win, and second of the season.

The first driver of this 2025 Formula 1 season to win multiple races, Piastri now moves up to second in the driver standings with 74 points, trailing Lando Norris by just the three and leading Max Verstappen by five.

“Great to have this result out here,” Piastri said after the race. “It’s been an incredible weekend starting with qualifying yesterday and finishing the job today in style is nice.

“I can’t thank the team enough for the car they have given us. It’s pretty handy out there. It’s been a great weekend and I’m very proud to do this out in Bahrain. It’s very important given our owners.

“It’s never been a track that’s been kind to us, so it’s nice to have our first win here. I’m sure we will have a hell of a party but I won’t get involved because I’ve got to race next weekend!”
