F1 2025 Austrian GP – Free Practice 2 Results

McLaren dominated FP2 at the Red Bull Ring with Lando Norris ending the session ahead of teammate Oscar Piastri

-

Things took a relatively normal turn after Lando Norris was quickest in Spielberg to put his McLaren top of the Austrian GP 2025 Free Practice 2 results, just ahead of teammate Oscar Piastri, with Max Verstappen in the Red Bull third fastest in the second practice session of the F1 weekend.

Norris – back in the car after Irish rookie Alex Dunne’s impressive morning cameo – wasted no time finding his rhythm, clocking a 1:04.580, a time that remained unbeaten as the chequered flag fell. Piastri slotted into second, just 0.157s behind, while Verstappen was three tenths off the pace in third for Red Bull despite running two new sets of softs.

There was no shortage of drama elsewhere on track. Charles Leclerc, back in action for Ferrari after sitting out FP1, slid through the gravel at Turn 6, while Kimi Antonelli was forced to dodge a slow-moving Lewis Hamilton at Turn 4. Hamilton’s frustrations grew when he later told his engineer he had “no pace” and ended the session almost a second adrift of Norris.
