F1 2024 race start times and full calendar

What is the F1 schedule for 2024 and the start times for new season in Formula 1?

Formula 1 in 2024 marks the 75th season since the sport became a World Championship when it began in 1950. F1 will visit a record-breaking 24 races in 2024 from Bahrain at the end of February to Abu Dhabi in mid-December.

There will be six Sprint weekends with China, Miami, Austria, Austin, Brazil and Qatar hosting the alternative format which is yet to be confirmed for 2024.

Max Verstappen is the defending world champion with his Red Bull team looking to make it a hat-trick of constructors’ titles. In 2023, Red Bull won an unprecedented 21 races, with Verstappen taking 19 of those victories.

The Chinese Grand Prix returns to the calendar after five years away due to the Covid-19 pandemic and Imola is also back after the race was cancelled at late notice in 2023 because of flooding.

Japan has moved to the fourth race of the season, with Azerbaijan moving to the second half of the second in September and Qatar scheduled as the penultimate event on the calendar.

Three Saturday races

There will be three races held on a Saturday, including the opening two events of the season in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, due to the start of Ramadan. This means practice one and two will take place on Thursday with final practice and qualifying on Friday.

Las Vegas retains its Saturday night slot from 2023, which is Sunday morning in the United Kingdom and Europe. However, the Bahrain and Saudi Arabia races will be the first time UK viewers watch an F1 race on a Saturday since the 1985 South African GP.

F1 session times in 2024

There have been no major changes to the F1 session times for 2024 with all European races starting at 15:00 local on the Sunday and qualifying at 16:00 on the Saturday.

Las Vegas was mooted to move to an earlier time slot but the race is still set for a 22:00 local start on Saturday night, which is the same as 2023.
